Ultimate Harness

Ultimate Harness runs a coding mission through one schema-backed lifecycle (mission packet, runtime adapter, sandboxed execution, verification result, human review, promotion) across interchangeable agent runtimes.

My role
Solo developer
Status
Active

Agentic coding work is bound to whichever runtime produced it: artifacts, sandbox policy, verification results, and the human promotion decision all live inside one vendor's tool, so swapping runtimes loses the record.

Install it and run a mission
$ bun add -g @agenticengineeringagency/ultimate-harness
$ uh init
$ uh adapter add codex
$ uh propose my-mission --workflow research-docs --goal "Refactor X"
$ uh mission run my-mission --runtime codex
$ uh verify my-mission
  1. Research

    Inputs become a narrative: adopt, reject or defer.

  2. Spec

    The mission packet is drafted and the acceptance criteria locked.

  3. Plan

    Workflow profile, runtime configuration and dispatch.

  4. Sandbox

    A git worktree is created and the mission bound to it.

  5. Run

    The adapter executes while its events are recorded live.

  6. Verify

    Checks gate promotion and review notes are attached.

  7. Promote

    Sandbox becomes canonical. The command records who approved it.

Change the agent, keep the record

Seven runtime adapters are wired over git-worktree, directory, and container sandbox backends, with strict per-runtime configuration validation and mission-level overrides.

  • hermesDirect Hermes server runtime.
  • codexOpenAI Codex CLI transport with sandbox routing parity.
  • hermes-proxySubscription gateway.
  • oh-my-piExperimental.

Public and installable

The harness is published to the public npm registry as an MIT-licensed package, latest version 0.9.0, and documented on its own site.
